Private IP Layer 2

Control Your Routing with Private IP Layer 2 VPN

Let our Layer 2 VPN smooth your transition from Frame Relay

Transition to IP and stay in command of your routing. Our Private IP Layer 2 VPN supports common protocols using Virtual Private Wire Service (VPWS) standards and Cisco Provider Edge (PE) devices to deliver a multi-site layer 2 VPN through pseudowire over our MPLS backbone.

Control

You control routing and topology internally - helping facilitate your architectural changes.

Security

You define addressing on your network. Verizon Business does not peer during routing sessions.

Affordability

Bundled port pricing allows customers to establish a Frame Relay Connection mode port for a low monthly fee, andd add multiple Layer 2 PVCs to that port at no additional cost.

Migration

Re-use your legacy Layer 2 frame relay equipment. You don't need IP-capable CPE or hardware with routing functionality.

Layer 3 vs. Layer 2 VPN

Layer 2 vs. Layer 3

Consider Private IP Layer 2 when your primary concerns include internal control over routing and topology and you predominantly run non-IP traffic. Flexible, efficient, and simple, the Private IP Layer 2 VPN is ideal for businesses with multiple locations and significant Layer 2 technology investments.

Private IP Layer 3 is the right choice when you have stringent quality of service requirements and your network carries mostly IP traffic. It is also the right solution if you are ready for Verizon Business to manage your routing for you.
