LAN Management
Outsourcing LAN management can help improve service and network performance
When you extend our Managed Network Solutions to your LAN, you gain a seamless view into your WAN and LAN environments that can help reduce total cost of ownership. Coordinated WAN/LAN Management can also reduce the risk of deploying converged networks and emerging technologies.
Fault isolation and restoration systems:
- Automatically detect faults and reinstate operations where appropriate
- Leverage authorized Network Operations Centers (NOCs) to isolate and restore faults across core, edge, and customer premise equipment (CPE)
Robust reporting:
- Allows you to outsource management and keep control of your networks
- Delivers automatic real-time ticket status updates by voice, pager, or e-mail
- Provides on-demand reporting via a customer Web portal
Proactive monitoring systems:
- Help maintain network continuity and reduce downtime
- Manage peak-performance bandwidth
- Constantly poll manageable network devices to determine status and proper functionality
- Issue early-warning degradation alerts before users are affected
- Respond to alarm conditions and work issues from inception to resolution
Verizon Business offers three levels of service:
Monitor and Notify
(The "Tell Me What's Happening" Service Plan)
Our Monitoring and Notification level of management continually observes the network, keeping you informed about its operation while you maintain full logical control of your internal LAN. Under this service plan, Verizon:
- Monitors the network proactively.
- Isolates the fault (access, network transport, or CPE).
- Restores and repairs if the issues are access and/or network.
- Alerts you if the issues are CPE and determines action to be taken.
You retain the control to resolve logical faults with your on-premise equipment.
Physical Management
(The "Collaborative Management" Service Plan)
Our Physical Management level of management enables both you and Verizon to manage the network collaboratively. Under this service plan, Verizon:
- Monitors the LAN network device and isolates the fault to either a logical or physical issue.
- If a physical fault occurs, Verizon will take appropriate corrective action to resolve it. If it is a logical fault, you will be notified to take corrective action. You retain control to resolve logical faults with your on-premise equipment.
Full Managment
(The "Manage It for Me" Service Plan)
Our Full Managment Service Plan provides the same features as our Basic Service Plan, but we will resolve all logical and/or physical fault conditions with your on-premise managed equipment. Verizon is accountable to monitor, manage, remedy, and secure your network.
For all service plans, Verizon Business will:
- Proactively monitor all LAN devices under management to verify that they are functioning properly
- Proactively respond to alarms on monitored LAN devices
- Open a trouble ticket and begin the appropriate corrective action within 15 minutes of the fault being detected
- Proactively notify you that a fault condition has been detected. The 15-minute Proactive Outage Notification is backed by a 15-minute Proactive Outage Notification service-level agreement
- Isolate the fault condition to either your on-premise equipment, WAN access, or the network portion of your managed solution. Based on this information, we may dispatch a technician to replace faulty hardware and/or repair the fault as appropriate
