Overview
Verizon Circuit Switched Data Service (CSDS) is a switched outbound data solution offered under the FTS2001 Bridge contract. We offer robust, reliable Circuit Switched Data Service, which can provide government organizations with high-quality videoconferencing solutions. Verizon Business also ensures your government organization's success by offering disaster recovery methods, efficient use of resources, effective document transfer capabilities, and more!
Verizon Circuit Switched Data Service provides government organizations with circuit-switched outbound data speeds of up to 1.536 Mbps (T1). These dial-up digital channels are in building blocks of 64 Kbps, which can be aggregated via CPE.
Verizon CSDS is available in the United States where Verizon Long Distance service is available. In addition, Verizon Business offers CSDS from the U.S. to 65+ countries. If your government organization is located in an area where ISDN access is not available, non-ISDN access may be used, but the throughput will be limited to 56 Kbps.
In the U.S., Verizon carries CSDS calls on a separate network called the DDN (Digital Data Network), which is provisioned and managed to have the same high standards as private line data. These trunks connect with international clear channel trunks. Unlike voice trunks, neither domestic nor international DDN trunks have compression or echo cancellation, which ensures high quality of CSDS.

Benefits
Verizon Circuit Switched Data Service plays a key role in the delivery of our integrated services suite through the FTS2001 Bridge contract.
- Flexibility. With Verizon CSDS, you have the flexibility to place voice and data calls via the same access line on a call-by-call basis. No longer does an organization need access channels dedicated to one or the other. You can place data calls to any location that has compatible equipment with DDD and IDDD dialing.
- Reliability and accessibility. Verizon CSDS reliability is high because of the ability to route via different channels and different routes through the network.
- Cost control. CSDS is billed on a usage basis, so you only pay for what is actually used.

Features
Verizon Business offers the following Circuit Switched Data Services:
- Switched 56/64
Switched 56 service is a switched version of our Digital Data Service (DDS) with usage-based pricing. Transmission speed can be at 56 Kbps or sub-rates of 2.4 Kbps, 4.8 Kbps, 9.6 Kbps and 19.2 Kbps. Individual 56 Kbps channels can be aggregated into N x 56 Kbps with the appropriate equipment. Access is available via DS0 on a Digital Gateway T-1 from Verizon, DDS local loop from the LEC, switched digital access (BRI) from the LEC and Primary Rate Interface (PRI) T1s. While the Verizon network transport will be at 64 Kbps, the network will perform the rate adaptation from 56 Kbps to 64 Kbps when ISDN is not used.
- Verizon On-Net Data ISDN H0
Verizon ISDN H0 gives customers 384 Kbps transmission of contiguous bandwidth-the equivalent of six individual voice channels-that travels through the network as a single data call. Typically used for high quality videoconferencing, Verizon ISDN H0 lets you receive contiguous bandwidth on demand in increments of 64 Kbps.
- Verizon On-Net Data ISDN H11
With Verizon ISDN H11, a single 1536 Kbps channel - equivalent to 24 x 64 Kbps channels - is established through the network as a single call. It is a cost-effective usage-based alternative to TDS 1.5 Private Line service for organizations with multiple PRIs at each location. And Verizon ISDN H11 lets you order contiguous bandwidth on demand in increments of 64 Kbps. This service does require two ISDN PRIs.
- Verizon On-Net Data ISDN Multi-Rate Bearer Service (MRBS)
Verizon On-Net Data ISDN Multi-Rate Bearer Service (MRBS) provides you with N x 64 Kbps services at the network level, without inverse multiplexing by your equipment. ISDN customers can dial up a single data call in variable increments of 64 Kbps, giving you the flexibility to define the amount of bandwidth you need. MRBS is only available via PRI access and the customer's equipment must support MRBS service.
- Global ISDN
Verizon's Global Integrated Services Digital Network (Global ISDN) is a digital network service capable of supporting multiple services on a single connection using a common set of well-defined protocols. Voice calls and data calls are part of the same intelligent network, providing government organizations with the same sophisticated features currently offered for our voice services.
Global ISDN service provides high-speed dial-up data connections supporting digital data transmission in building blocks of 64 Kbps. Higher clear channel speeds, i.e. 384 Kbps and 1.544 Mbps, are available to the UK, and service will be expanded on a country-by-country basis as international carriers develop the capability. Other speeds will be available in the future, giving Verizon a full Multi-rate Bearer Service (MRBS). Government organizations may also achieve N x 64 Kbps transmission via appropriate CPE, such as IMUXs or two-port video equipment. Transmission at 56 Kbps requires rate adaption by CPE.
