Global Network

The foundation for your extended enterprise

In today’s technology-based world, it all starts with the network. And when it comes to networks, Verizon Business has one of the most reliable and secure networks in the world. Our global, IP-based network is the foundation for your global business performance and makes it possible to connect, communicate, and collaborate in a competitive world.

A Global Footprint for Your Global Business

The Quality and Reliability You Need in a Network

We are committed to creating the essential business network—one that’s fast, resilient, and reliable.

  • Our network operates at speeds up to 40 Gbps (per Optical Carrier specification OC-768), the fastest currently available.
  • We deploy MultiProtocol Label Switching (MPLS) on our OC-768 IP backbone networks to improve traffic engineering and management.
  • We are the first network provider to deploy undersea cable mesh technology, which provides diverse paths for voice and data traffic reliability.
  • We offer industry-leading service level agreements (SLAs) for managed network and Voice over IP (VoIP) customers
  • Our patent-pending IMPACT Rapid Fault Isolation and Restoration capabilities allow us to reduce fault isolation and correction time and provide time-to-repair SLAs as low as 3.5 hours on select Verizon Business networks.

We have proven experience managing some of the largest and most complex networks in the world. Currently we manage more than 4,200 networks in 142 countries and territories, including non-Verizon Business connections from more than 60 network providers globally.

Innovations for Today and Tomorrow

Driven by a commitment to innovation, we’re constantly developing new technologies to improve your network experience.

  • We’re making Ultra Long Haul optical transmission available, which provides high-bandwidth services to customers in the U.S. and Europe.
  • We’re the only U.S.-based charter member of a consortium building the Trans-Pacific Express (TPE) optical cable network system that links the United States to mainland China.
  • We’re the only U.S. consortium member of the South East Asia–Middle East–Western Europe 4 (SEA-ME-WE-4) undersea cable network system that reaches 14 countries in these regions.
  • We’ve successfully conducted the industry’s first field trial of 100 Gbps optical transmission and are targeting late 2009 for making production quality 100 Gbps available.
