Terri Dean is the senior vice president of Global Communications for Verizon Business and brings more than 30 years experience in communications, finance, sales, marketing, and operations to this role. Dean assumed the position at the launch of Verizon Business in January 2006. Since then, she has been leading a global team focusing on executive and employee communications, industry analyst relations, international media relations, and community investment.

Prior to her current position, Dean was the president of Verizon Connected Solutions, a wholly-owned Verizon subsidiary serving small business and residential customers in the mid-Atlantic region. As president, Dean set the strategy and was responsible for the profitability of the group. In this role, she was accountable for customer and employee satisfaction, human resources, finance, marketing and sales, operations, and information technology.

Before this, she was a regional president in National Operations, where she directed provisioning, repair and outside plant construction for 1.5 million access lines in Alabama, Kentucky, North Carolina, and South Carolina. She was also responsible for public policy in those states and ensuring customer satisfaction and high service levels for residential and business customers.

Prior to this, Dean was director of Complementary Sales Channels for Verizon’s Business Solutions Group. In this role, she directed the small and medium-sized business sales activities of over 80 authorized sales agent companies. She also generated revenue through an outbound telemarketing sales center.

Dean is a member of the Executive Leadership Council, an organization representing the most senior African American corporate executives in Fortune 500 companies. She was also appointed by the president of Duke University to the Board of Visitors of the Divinity School. In addition, Dean serves as chair of the Norfolk State University School of Business Advisory Council, vice president of the Board of Directors of The Ivy Legacy Foundation, chair of the Advisory Board of the Ron Brown Scholar Program, and vice-chair of the Trustee Ministry at Mount Zion Baptist Church of Germantown in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

She was recognized by the Harlem Branch of the YMCA with its 2007 Black Achiever in Industry Award. Dean is also a recipient of the Chatham College Cornerstone Award for Excellence in Business, and received the 2007 Citizenship Award from Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., of which she is a member.

Dean earned a bachelor of arts degree from Chatham College in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and is a resident of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
