One number, one voicemail, any device
When employees are unavailable, time is wasted, productivity is drained, and the result can be lost sales and lower customer satisfaction and retention. PBX Mobile Extension gives your mobile employees a single number across multiple devices such as a cell phone, BlackBerry™, home phone, or Wi-Fi device. So, your customers are more likely to reach your employees on the first try.
PBX functionality away from the office
PBX Mobile Extension is compatible with any handset device and any TDM, PBX, or IP-PBX system. The service enables you to utilize all your PBX functionality on multiple devices. Each employee has a single corporate number and any missed phone calls are consolidated into a single voicemail box.
Flexible and cost-effective
PBX Mobile Extension helps increase efficiency and productivity, enhance collaboration, and control costs.
Easy to use
PBX Mobile Extension's intuitive telephone and Web interfaces mean your people can manage their own solutions for increased efficiency.
- Users can modify profiles on demand
- Users can manage their devices and preferences, and access converged applications:
- Conference calling
- Notification/polling
- Centralized management and cost controls
Make the most of your investments while preparing for convergence
Because PBX Mobile Extension is compatible with existing enterprise-class networks, your firm can continue to leverage legacy PBX and voicemail systems while paving the way to smooth migration.
- Integrate with new mobility options-seamlessly
- Avoid investing in potentially limiting proprietary infrastructure
Give control back to IT with robust communications policies
Comprehensive communication policies help you better manage mobile devices, telecom infrastructure, and track effectiveness.
- Manage on a per-user basis
- Manage profile attributes
- Manage security functions-including access privileges-more easily.
- Prioritize communications with classes of service-so important calls get through quickly
- Designate call-routing protocols-forcing calls onto the most cost-effective routes
- Let end users manage their own devices through user-friendly Web and phone interfaces and converged applications
- Users handle "adds, moves, and changes"
- Users manage conferencing, notification, polling, and more
True convergence and a smooth migration to Wi-Fi/VoIP
Integrating IP-based phones with existing (TDM) PBXs can cause problems and potential "rip and replace" scenarios. The same integrations built into the Voice Mobility platform that enable wireless mobility across a heterogeneous PBX environment also enable the integration of IP-PBXs into the existing environment. It functions as "telephony middleware" by abstracting the interface to the TDM environment.
Four applications - one comprehensive solution
Composed of four applications (Mobility, Conferencing, Notification and Continuity), PBX Mobile Extension delivers to enterprises a powerful communications solution perfectly suited for today's mobile workforce.
The Mobility Application
By extending the identity and functionality of a traditional PBX desk phone to any device-such as a cell phone, BlackBerry™, home phone, or Wi-Fi device-our Mobility application goes well beyond traditional "find-me/follow-me" applications and allows users to simulate an "in-office" environment.
- Increase responsiveness
- Take advantage of advanced "find-me/follow-me" options:
- Sequential ring-desk phone rings first, then all other devices, or:
- All phones ring simultaneously, or:
- Desk phone rings first, then all others in sequence
And, if a user misses a call, all messages will be consolidated into a single voicemail box.
Automatic callback
Can be invoked from any device-national or international-to trigger a callback using enterprise-class facilities and negotiated rates, giving users direct access to corporate dial tone with the quality of service they've come to expect.
- Users can make calls at their corporate plan rates
- Once dial tone is established, users have full access to all voice services and applications:
- Abbreviated and long-distance dialing
- Voicemail access
- Conferencing-all available just by answering the phone
On-the-fly call reroutes
- Reroute calls in progress without temporary disconnects
- Move PBX desk phone calls to cell phones
- Move cell calls to Wi-Fi or VoIP networks
Automatic reconnect
Reconnects the call in the event a Wi-Fi or cell signal is lost. Continuous communication saves time and resources by enabling calls to be transitioned to the most cost-effective device/network.
Compatibility
Our Mobility application is compatible with any device regardless of technology or PBX, and with existing enterprise-class networks, including cellular, VoIP, and PSTN.
Rich Feature set
Your mobile workers enjoy "PBX" voice features and applications:
- Single-number reachability
- Unified voicemail
- Conference calling
- Notification
- 4 to 5-digit dialing
- Call park/transfer and more
The Conferencing Application
Fluid, rapid-fire conferencing capabilities speed the decision-making process and enable more productive collaboration. Now your people can initiate conferences "on the fly" without the need for a conference administrator to set up each call.
Join-Me Conferencing
Conference-in another party to an existing conversation at will.
Meet-Me Conferencing
Schedule a conference; list notification and passcode management is handled automatically.
Get-Me Conferencing
This mode eliminates the need to remember dial-in numbers and passcodes. "Personal Conference Group" members are automatically called in real time for either ad-hoc or scheduled meetings.
The Notification Application
Now you can notify your entire global workforce-with the click of a mouse or the DTMF commands on your mobile devices.
- Notification-help improve communications and responsiveness during unplanned events
- Make mass contact with speed and precision
- React to time-sensitive situation-everything from spinning a news item to unplanned events
- Conduct polls through unique functionality that also collects disposition and location info
The Continuity Application
Our Continuity application helps improve infrastructure redundancy. Continuity also helps customers maintain "business as usual" communications in the event of an outage, speeding recovery.
Redundancy
Redundant systems can be installed at remote locations and directed to assume control of voice services in the event the primary system becomes disabled for any reason. The redundant system seamlessly engages to continue to provide all the same communication features available on the primary systems to help ensure a non-disruptive environment for people trying to contact your staff.
Disaster recovery
Our Continuity application helps employees maintain communications under any outage or disaster situation. Because it leverages Mobility, Continuity seamlessly integrates with PBX desk sets, as well as VoIP, Wi-Fi , Blackberry™, cellular, home office phones, and presence applications such as MSN Messenger™, so your people can choose the most appropriate means of communication during a disruption.

Back to PBX Mobile Extension
Enterprise scalability meets comprehensive third-party integration
PBX Mobile Extension uses telecommunications and data interface standards across three software layers: Application, Services, and Call flow.
Sample call flow
In this common customer configuration, the PBX Mobile Extension server is connected to the customer’s PBX/IP-PBX via PRI/QSIG, MGCP, or SIP Trunking.

User-friendly management interface
Intuitive GUI and TUI (touchtone user) interfaces give end users and administrators extensive control on a permissions-based model with classes of service. Administrators have the ability to manage all user profiles, restrict user access, configure class of service, run standards or filtered reports. End users can turn phones on and off, add remote devices, and add or change phone schedules.

IT/Telecom requirements
The following requirements are necessary to ensure a successful installation. These apply to both the primary and continuity customer sites. The infrastructure will be verified by a Verizon sales engineer prior to the proposal. Note that a multiple site configuration may include additional requirements.
